Sewing...

No wedding pictures yet. (Note to friends and family: ahem, go now! and upload pictures to our flickr site! I'm dying to see more!)

So I thought I'd share a little project with you. Well, actually I have nothing to share yet, just a few pictures of it in progress. So, basically my blog sucks today, since I really haven't a lot to show you. But I'm so proud of myself for learning how to thread my machine, cut out pattern pieces, fuse some interfacing to some fabric, and actually sewing something! More to come...(ok, spoiler: it's this pattern)

I'm back! With a giveaway!

It's official! We're official!

The wedding was wonderful. Perfect. Everything I wanted, and more. We were surrounded by friends and family who dearly love us, and that, of course, was the most lovely part of the whole thing.

I tried to soak in as much of it as I could, but boy was it difficult. The time just flew by, and before we knew it we were having one last breakfast with our guests before we jetted off (who am I kidding? we drove) to New Orleans for our honeymoon.

I know, I know, you want to see pictures. I do too! I won't get our professional pics back for a few weeks, and coming back to work (and a BIG work load) on Monday has prevented me from gathering pictures from friends and family.

So I thought I'd do a giveaway for now. Yay!

When we began planning our ceremony, I was truly at a loss for what to do. Neither of us are particularly religious, and I had no idea where to begin. Until I found this
book. I think I found it through a forum on The Wedding Bee, but I'm not sure. But I'm truly thankful that I found it.

book

This book is a wonderful resource for writing your own ceremony, no matter who you are and what your religion is. The author, Judith Johnson, covers many types of ceremonies, readings, verses, vows. Look at it as a sort of "build your own ceremony" book.

It helped us write our entire ceremony. This was vitally important to us, as we had tried to personalize the entire weekend, and we wanted to also have a ceremony that was truly ours.

So enter the giveaway! Leave a comment here. You can comment on your own wedding planning, a friend's wedding, whatever. I don't care - I want to hear from you! I'll select a winner with that random number generator site, and I'll mail it off to the next lucky bride. This is the same book that I used, so a few pages' corners have been folded over during use, but who cares? This is a reference book and it will help you immensely.

The only catch? That once you're married, you send this book on to another deserving bride.

I'll keep this giveaway open until March 31st. Ok, now go leave a comment! Oh, and make sure to leave either your blog address or some way that I can contact you if you win.

Good luck!

Rain...

I said I wasn't going to be one of those. You know, a bride who is worried about the weather on her wedding day.

Well, I checked the weather forecast. Guess what? Rain. All weekend.

And I'm a little disappointed. Here in Memphis the weather has been positively gorgeous lately. So I suppose I assumed it would be nice for this weekend.

Ha.

I know, I know, don't worry about it. So I'm going to try to make the best of it. Pretty umbrellas, anyone?

Handmade Dishtowels

IMG_1898 copy 5

As a wedding present, my friend and co-worker Stephanie gave me this very cute set of dishtowels that she made herself. Isn't that so sweet? She sews all sorts of lovely things - baby clothes, baby shoes, and now dishtowels! I told her that she should open an Etsy store...

And speaking of Etsy, and keeping with the dishtowel theme, wouldn't
this make a wonderful present? Personalized dishtowels with an image of your home! How thoughtful would that be for a new couple moving into their first house together? My fiance's parents are going to soon be leaving their lovely home and moving to a new city, so I may buy this as a reminder of their house they shared for over 30 years.

P.S. Wondering about that first photo? I just discovered The Pioneer Woman's Photoshop Actions, and you can get them here, for free!

P.S.S. As of today, we have six days to go until we're married!
